Pessimism

Pessimism is for people who don’t believe that life is automatically good or getting better. This community welcomes pessimistic thoughts, realistic outlooks, quiet despair, and unfiltered honesty, without the pressure to be positive or optimistic.

Ground Rules:

  1. No toxic positivity, but also no cruelty. Pessimism is welcome. Mocking, harassing, or celebrating others’ suffering is not.

  2. Do not encourage or glorify self-harm or suicide. Philosophical discussion is allowed, but promotion or romanticization is not. Crisis posts belong elsewhere.

  3. Be thoughtful, not reactive. Low-effort rage posts, drive-by nihilism, and shock content may be removed. Explain why you think the way you do.

  4. Respect disagreement. Not all pessimists agree. Debate ideas, not people.

  5. No forced optimism or unsolicited "fixing." Do not lecture others to "stay positive," "get outside," or "be grateful."

  6. No bigotry or dehumanization. Criticizing humanity or society is fine. Targeting real groups or individuals is not.

  7. Keep posts relevant to pessimism. Posts should relate to pessimistic philosophy, personal outlooks, cultural critique, or reflective writing, not general memes or unrelated news.

  8. Use content warnings (CW/TW) for graphic or heavy material (violence, death, abuse).

  9. This is not a therapy or venting space. Personal reflections are okay, but repetitive posts about despair without discussion may be limited.

  10. Moderators reserve the right to curate tone. This community values calm realism and depth over chaos.
